Cabernet Saugvinon

In 1921, after the phylloxera, Ignasi Girona, a great connoisseur of the French grape varieties, imported cabernet sauvignon, among others, for the replanting of the vines affected by the phylloxera, therefore becoming one of the pioneers of the implantation of these varieties in the Iberian Peninsula.

Currently it is a very extensive variety in the subzone of Raimat, and in a lesser number of hectares, but one of the main varieties to be found in the subzone, in Urgell.

This is the red grape variety that currently occupies the largest surface area within the Costers del Segre D.O.
