From this period are countless tracks that remind us that there was wine-growing tradition in this area. The origins of the winery in the early 1980s in which Hermenegildo Porta Trepat, with support that would be his oenologist Joan Milà Mallofré, planted an experimental vineyard following modern techniques of cultivation by serve noble such as Merlot or Cabernet vines.

From these vines came out excellent wines, which, together with the characteristics of the area, foster the creation of winery Vall de Baldomar by Porta Trepat and Joan Milà Mallofrè family. The winery currently controls 35 hectares of vines in different varieties. Cultivation techniques have been adapted to the production of quality grapes: minimum fertilizers, short pruning, proper orientation, etc.

Them wines from Vall de Baldomar features are due to the interaction soil, climate and the variety. The agricultural land are sandy, chalky, which retains water, well what makes contribution to the plants to be continued. The climate of the area is cold in winter, with important differences between maximum and minimum, and scarce in summer rains. The Montsec Sierra offers protection against strong winds. Climate elements of quality are still considered.
